Renal Glomerular Lesions in Mice following Injection of Streptococcal M Protein
نویسنده
چکیده
Type-specificity of Group A streptococci is dependent upon the M antigen. This protein interferes with phagocytosis and is an important determinant of virulence.1 Recently some preparations of M protein have been shown to precipitate fibrinogen in vitro.' In an effort to find expression of this new biological property in vivo, M protein was injected into mice. The renal glomerular lesions observed form the basis of this brief report.

Study of chronic effect of Losartan in inhibition of kidney glomerular number and glomerular volume changes in uninephrectomized diabetic rats(Stereological study).
Background: Diabetic nephropathy is one of the cause of the end stage of renal disease (ESRD). Hyperglicemia activate intrarenal Renin-Angiotensin system and highly AngiotensinII is produced locally in glomeruli. In this research AT1(Angiotensin type 1) receptors blocked by Losartan and effects of this drug in inhibition of renal structural lesions were assessed quantitatively. Materials & me...
متن کاملLocalization of Streptococcal Antigens in Tissues
A method has been described for the detection of streptococcal antigens in tissues using the indirect immunofluorescent technique. This method has been applied to the histologic distribution in the mouse of M protein of types 1, 5, 12, and 19. Histologic localization of these M proteins was similar, and their rates of disappearance from the tissues were comparable. The major sites of deposition...
متن کاملGp130-dependent signaling in the podocyte.
Renal inflammation, in particular glomerular, is often characterized by increased IL-6 levels. The in vivo relevance of IL-6 signaling in glomerular podocytes, which play central roles in most glomerular diseases, is unknown. Here, we show that in normal mice, podocytes express gp130, the common signal-transducing receptor subunit of the IL-6 family of cytokines. Following systemic IL-6 or LPS ...
متن کاملSpecies-specific inflammatory responses as a primary component for the development of glomerular lesions in mice and monkeys following chronic administration of a second-generation antisense oligonucleotide.
Chronic administration of drisapersen, a 2'-OMe phosphorothioate antisense oligonucleotide (AON) to mice and monkeys resulted in renal tubular accumulation, with secondary tubular degeneration. Glomerulopathy occurred in both species with species-specific characteristics. Glomerular lesions in mice were characterized by progressive hyaline matrix accumulation, accompanied by the presence of ren...
متن کاملFractalkine expression and CD16+ monocyte accumulation in glomerular lesions: association with their severity and diversity in lupus models.
Fractalkine (Fkn) is expressed on injured endothelial cells and is a membrane-bound chemokine that attracts cells expressing its receptor, CX3CR1, including CD16(+) monocytes (CD16(+) Mos). To clarify the role played by Fkn in the development of glomerular lesions in lupus nephritis, we examined Fkn expression and CD16(+) Mo accumulation induced in experimental C.B-17/Inc-scid/scid (SCID) lupus...
